Apostles' Build 2011 Update:
The Apostles' Build, now in its sixth year, got off to a great start last fall, and now, with the house almost complete, we await the family's completion of sweat equity hours, before dedicating the home!
Now, all we need is a coat of paint on the outside, and paint and flooring on the inside and we'll be done! Thank you to all our GREAT volunteer teams from our Apostles' Build member churches for a JOB WELL DONE (as always).

Howell Furniture Gallery, which carries the Kincaid line, is partnering with Habitat of Jefferson County as part of a larger national partnership between Kincaid and Habitat. Howell employees will be working on the Habitat house at 3305 Lorilee over the next few months, as part of this partnership.
Between June 1st and October 31st of this year, Howell Furniture will donate a percentage of all sales of Kincaid furniture to Habitat for Humanity of Jefferson County.
Then, on October 27th, Howell Furniture will host a fundraiser / reception at their showrooms for Habitat of Jefferson County. This event will be the culmination of the house build and the Kincaid donation period.
We appreciate the wonderful support from the people at Howell Furniture, helping us to provide decent, modest housing to needy families.
Coburn's Plumbing Supply Co. has committed to providing all plumbing fixtures and faucets for 10 Habitat house built by the local affiliate. The Howell's build is the first house that will see this donation.
Thank you, to Coburn's and to Mr. Don Maloney for the generous supprt!
Habitat of Jefferson County: Who We Are Beaumont Habitat for Humanity was incorporated in October of 1978. Since that time, we have built and sold close to 100 houses in Jefferson County.
In May of 2007, we changed our name and geographic service area, expanding from the city of Beaumont to the county level. In just over two years, HFH of Jefferson County has built twelve houses in Port Arthur (including three in Sabine Pass).
As an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat of Jefferson County is built on the same principals as Habitat International – it is a Christian based, ecumenical not for profit organization whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing. Habitat strives to do this by building modest, affordable homes together with motivated partner families who cannot afford a conventional or government-backed mortgage.
Habitat partner families earn between 30% and 60% of area median income. They contribute 300 hours of sweat equity to help the affiliate with house construction, the ReStore and other events. Once the partner family has fulfilled its obligations and their home is ready for occupation, they purchase their house from Habitat at below cost and pas a zero-interest, twenty year mortgage to the affiliate. Principle payments go into a revolving fund that helps Habitat build more houses. Therefore, a Habitat homeowner becomes a Habitat supporter!
But we can’t do it without you. Habitat is a truly grassroots ministry that requires the support and involvement of the entire community. Consider volunteering with us, or make a donation today. |
