The Lamar University College of Business will present speaker and educator Jan Hargrave in a program on non-verbal communication Monday, March 1, in the Landes Auditorium of the Galloway Business Building.
Hargrave, chief executive officer of Houston-based Jan Hargrave and Associates, will speak from 9:05 to 10 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. to noon on the topic “Understanding the Importance of Non-Verbal Communication.” Her visit is made possible by a grant from ExxonMobil.
The speaker is the author of “Let Me See Your Body Talk,” “Freeway of Love,” “Judge the Jury” and “Strictly Business Body Language.” Hargrave is a popular speaker and distinguished educator who has been a talk-show guest of Maury Povich, Montel Williams and Ricki Lake, as well as making appearances on “Great Day Houston” and networks such as Lifetime, Fox News and E-Entertainment Television.
“Hargrave will describe for you all of the ‘hidden messages’ you use in everyday life and show you how to stop the lies and uncover the truth – in any conversation or situation,” said Alicen Flosi, instructor of management information systems in the College of Business.
Working with thousands in the field of personal growth and self-expression through seminars and workshops for the past 10 years, Flosi said, Hargrave continues to inspire many of today’s leading corporations, including ExxonMobil, NASA, Lockheed Martin, Starbucks, Rockwell, ESPN, El Paso Energy and Bank of America.
Hargrave was born to French-Acadian parents amid the unique “joie de vivre” (joy of life) culture of Southwest Louisiana. As a result, she sprinkles her presentations with entertaining “Ragin’ Cajun” folk tales. Hargrave earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and a specialist degree in business/psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
